Le nombre total des Membres et Associés qui n'ont pas atteint l'âge de 80 ans ne peut dépasser 132. Le titre de "Membre émérite" peut en outre être décerné aux Membres démissionnaires qui méritent cette distinction.

Le pays mentionné après les noms et prénoms est celui de la nationalité de l’intéressé. Pour ce qui concerne les membres émérites, l’année mentionnée à la suite de leur nom est celle de la session au cours de laquelle l’Institut a pris acte de leur démission. Pour les autres membres et associés, les années indiquées entre parenthèses, après chaque nom, sont celles de la session au cours de laquelle ils ont été élus respectivement associé, membre titulaire et membre honoraire.
