The Institute of International Law is participating in the 16th World Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates taking place from 2 through 5 February 2017. The Institute received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1904 for promoting international arbitration and for persuading states to accept the rules of law in wartime. The Institute was, among other, given the credit for the provisions on arbitration which were adopted by the Hague Congress in 1899. The World Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates is hosted this year by the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce, Colombia.
